a kaleidoscope jamboree - sweet 16 - Part 1

I love a beautiful wedding, but this sweet sixteen party was a blast! With bold colors, incredible details, and fun entertainment, this a party you don't want to miss! Our adorable 16 year old client Abbie, loves to travel so part of our theme was bicycles and that Abbie was traveling all around her kaleidoscope jamboree world. We even included food stations from around the world: fresh Japanese sushi, grilled Mexican tacos, warm Indian meatballs, and sautéed Italian pasta. So jump into a world of smoothies, lemonade, specialty soda pops, ballon twisters, and a candy bar!!!!

Engagement Session

So we love getting engagement pictures of our clients. These two are adorable!!! The day was cool, overcast, and even a little drizzly, but that did not stop Will and Audra from laugh, cuddling and having a great time. Love is all your need!

Venue Coordinator versus Wedding Coordinator

So many times, brides say the are just going to use the venue's coordinator. Just make sure that you understand roles and find out what your coordinator will be doing. Found this great article that sums up the difference:

Kirsten Fischer, wedding planner of Fab Event Designoften hears the question, "What's the difference between what you do and what the venue coordinator does?" Good question. Here, Kirsten it breaks down, task by task. Though both coordinators are imperative to ensuring your wedding day goes smoothly, the roles are vastly diferent. Don't know who cleans up the glass your one-too-many uncle accidentally broke? Or who pins the boutonnieres to your ushers? Read on.

What a venue coordinator does:

• Arrive first to make sure the doors are unlocked
• Give vendors access to load and unload
• Ensure the power works and the lights are on  then figure out how to turn lights on again if you blow fuses
• Clean the space, set it and reset it if there is a flip from ceremony to reception
• Keep their staff, which sometimes includes catering and bar staff, on task
• Make sure the site is secure and safe, such as clearing the dance floor of dropped glass while boozeydancing ensues
• Keeps the end of the night tasks like clean up and guest departure safe and on time for vendors and guests
• Is often the last one out the door at the end of a long (awesome) day to lock the doors
• Runs tasks perfectly all night and is an advocate for the venue and its staff

What a wedding coordinator does:

• Help you plan the details of your wedding, like décor and timeline
• Care about the little details such as colors, flowers, dessert tables and straw flags
• Handles distributing personal flowers and pinning flowers to right people
• Make sure the ceremony décor is done and transports ceremony items to reception
• Ensures the ceremony happens on time and you walk down the aisle in the right order
• Double-checks that linens and table numbers are on the right tables and that your escort cards are out (and in order)
• Keeps the timeline in mind all day and night, cueing the toasts and starting your dance around the right time
• Checks that the lighting color is correct and that the small décor details are done right
• Confirms your vendors and wedding party what they need to do their jobs
• Ensures the tasks you planned well in advance of the day are carried out just as you had planned
• Oversees or actually does the clean up at the end of the night
• Is the second to last person out the door at the end of a long (awesome) day
• Is your advocate and go-to for all the pretty little details of the wedding

Hill Country Beauty - October 25, 2014 - Part 1

What a beautiful day! This groom met his bride while working abroad in Korea. They fell in love and decided to come back to the US for a wedding ceremony. After much visa complications, they finally got everything together. In 5 weeks we put together a sweet intimate wedding day and they came to Texas for a week to tie that knot. From wedding bands made by the groom, custom jewelry, to a fossil for carry the rings, this was such a beautiful day.

Ultimate Groom's Table

I love creating unique aspects to each for our clients. This particular groom is an avid Saints and sports fan. So the bride asked us to create the ultimate dessert table themed around sports. This table had everything from the field with lines, goal posts, candy, cupcakes, nuts, custom cookies and cake, to a Saints football signed by quarterback Drew Brees. So much fun!

What a beautiful wedding this one was. Start with a destination location of the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort, add fabulous food, custom drinks, beautiful flowers, awesome guests and you have a killer party. Jordy and Graham had such a beautiful sense of natural elegant beauty and attention to detail. So thrilled to be a part of this sweet couples day.

paper products and what they add!

Cy and Susan got married last fall at the Retreat at Balcones Springs. The Retreat is a very lovely camp in Marble Falls, TX that is available to rent in the off season of summer camp. One of the great things that we all appreciated during this wed-a-bration celebration weekend was that each gathering space that we went to had a blazing fireplace. Who says that it does not get cold in Texas?
What added to the overall coziness of the event, was bride, Susan's, overwhelming love for fun and her wanting to make guests smile. Susan had the greatest paper products made! A caricature artist was employed to come up with their pictures which were placed on koozies, their weekend field guide, a welcome banner,... and of course, the invitation!

Susan also loved confetti and that was part of her overall theme! A popper was installed in the invitation, and when guests opened their announcement, confetti shoot out at the recipient. We had such fun with the paper products that were designed by Sarah Garcia of Le Snooty Fox.

Kristy and Jacob's Fall Wedding - Part 3

Design - such an important part of a wedding.

Many brides are unsure of what their “theme or style” will be when they start. But, with time, a style does unfold - either with pictures found on Pinterest or something that Maureen dreams up. (Many times she does dream about Elegant Event's weddings :) With this wedding, a vision started with a pillow that was found online. Kristy loved the dandelion print on the pillow, so Elegant Events found the material at Fabric Guru - and knew that we could use this on table toppers and pillows. The second fabric was found online too - but the orange ikat had beige as it’s background color. We knew we loved the orange ikat pattern - so our stationer, Le Snooty Fox - was able to reproduce a similar design through Spoonflower - a fabric design company. So, we had our elements - stationary with an orange ikat design and a green dandelion design pattern.  From there, the over all style just keep snowballing ~ with great zeal!

kristy and jacobs fall wedding - part 2

Photography can make or break your day and your memories! These pictures showing the love of the couple, are some of my favorite pictures. It is important for you, the couple, to be able to relax - but also important for the photographer to have that eye for what makes a great shot. Anne Marie Photography did a great job with Kristy and Jacob in capturing their love. Rock on!

kristy and jacobs fall wedding - part 1

Kristy and Jacob were such a great couple to work with in their planning process. They blessed me as much as I hoped to have blessed them. They were always happy, and ready to make decisions.

On this fall day of October 2014, Jacob and Kristy were married at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in San Antonio.

Please follow along and see the details of their fabulous story!

Bon Voyage

One of the coolest things about weddings is how each one is different and reflects either completely or in little details the personalities, hobbies, and likes of the special couple. Luana and Raul love traveling, so dive right into a tour around the world.
